Magdi Mostafa – sound artist

d.o.b. in 1982, lives and works in Cairo.

Magdi Mostafa works primarily with site-specific, research-driven installation and performance projects, multimedia installations, and experimental «sound-based» works since 2003, Mostafa’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions including Donaueschinger Musiktage, Germany, «New Sensorium» at ZKM center of Art and Media, Karlsruhe Germany, Echoes and Reverberations at Hayward Gallery (PS), London, «Surface of Spectral Scattering» at Townhouse Gallery, Cairo (2014), «Extract of Paradise» at Galerie Brigitte Schenk, Cologne (2016), he also participated in Sharjah Biennale where he received the Biennale prize 2013, also Jogja Biennale, Indonesia, La Biennale d'Lyon, Dakar Biennale, Senegal 2018, Lyon (2015), «Sound Element», at Arab Museum of Contemporary art (PS), Doha-Qatar, «Sound Cells» at Institute des Cultures d'Islam in Paris, Art Dubai projects (2012), and recently Art Abu Dhabi Commotions UAE (2017). Residencies including The Bronx Museum NYC, DAAD berlin, Delfina Foundation in London, Cittadellarte in Italy, Hangar Multimedia Centre in Barcelona, and Alanica symposium in Russia. His sound compositions have been featured in several international radio stations including «Saout Documenta» – the Documenta 13th Radio program, Kassel (2017).
